Our Antonov 2

On the Bethesda Campsite in Zirnesti, we have an old Antonov 2 aeroplane (registration YR-PAE). It had been laying abandoned for many years in a field just outside Galati, Romania. What an ideal feature for a Children's Campsite!

The owner agreed to sell the aircraft to us. Although it many pieces it was almost all complete, with the exception of the engine and propellor.

The next challenge was how to get it to Moldova. Transport was arranged on a flat bed truck and after customs clearance was obtained and it was transported to its new home in Zirnesti.

Reassembly was quite an undertaking. Some parts, such as the fabric covered wings, had to be repaired. What was left of the old fabric was replaced with sheets of metal.
